FAQs
How do you choose the wigs you sell?
Every edit begins with a dedicated sample that is selected, worn and tested thoroughly before the collection is approved for sale.
I personally wear the sample as part of everyday life, day and night. I wear it while I'm working, walking my dogs, running errands, and on days out and weekends away. This means I can understand how the wig feels over time, not just how it looks on the day it arrives from the manufacturer. Your Hair Edit will never sell a wig simply because it looks beautiful on day one. It has to earn its place.
I pay attention to everything, and if I'm genuinely happy with the wig three months in, that's when it becomes part of Your Hair Edit. And that's why you'll see information like this under every listing: I've worn my sample wig from this collection for 83 days. I've washed it 11 times, heat styled it 17 times and worn it through wind, rain and sunshine. Here's exactly how it's held up.."
If I wouldn't happily wear it myself, it won't appear on the website.
What is the Your Hair Edit Test?
The real-life testing process is an integral part of Your Hair Edit's quality control. Rather than judging a wig straight out of the box, I wear each sample night and day for up to three months to understand how it performs over time.
During that period I'm assessing things like:
- Overall comfort
- Standard of lace
- Construction
- Cap fit and security
- Hair density and whether it looks natural
- Hairline realism
- Shedding
- Tangling
- Softness after repeated washing
- How well the hair responds to styling
- Whether the colour remains true
- How naturally the wig moves in everyday wear
I'm looking for a wig that I'd genuinely be happy to wear myself. If I don't miss wearing the sample when the test ends, the wig isn't something we'll sell.
Only when I'm completely confident in the sample's quality, comfort and wearability, the collection will become part of Your Hair Edit, with notes on the listing like this: This is one of the softest blondes we've tested. It has a beautifully natural density and remained comfortable throughout long working days. As you can see from the update photo, the colour stayed true after ten weekly washes and the hair remained easy to style. I'd happily wear this wig every day and I'd definitely buy it again.
So you wear every wig before you sell it?
No. Every customer receives a brand new, unworn wig. I only ever wear a sample wig from each line we've designed.
But we inspect every wig that we sell, twice in fact. Once before it leaves the manufacturer, and again before we ship to the buyer.
No wig sold by Your Hair Edit has ever been worn before.
Are all of your wigs made from human hair?
Yes. Every wig at Your Hair Edit is made from responsibly selected human hair. We specify the country of origin in each listing. We believe human hair offers the most natural appearance, movement and styling versatility, making it a worthwhile investment for everyday confidence.
Why are your collections so small?
We believe fewer choices can make shopping feel less overwhelming.
Rather than offering hundreds of wigs, we carefully curate and life-test each collection to include wigs we can genuinely recommend ourselves. Every piece is selected and tested for its quality, comfort and natural appearance.
Why don't you stock hundreds of wigs?
Because we'd rather know a handful of wigs exceptionally well than stock a lot of wigs we don't know at all.
Every edit begins with a dedicated sample that is worn and tested for up to three months before it's approved for sale. That means we can tell you how it behaves after dozens of wears, repeated washing, heat styling and everyday life.
We'd rather recommend four wigs with complete confidence than four hundred we've barely handled.
Why do you specialise in small cap wigs?
Finding beautiful and well-fitting small cap human hair wigs can be surprisingly difficult, particularly in the UK. It's one of the reasons Your Hair Edit exists.
All of our collections will be available in smaller cap sizes, helping more people find a comfortable, secure fit.
Can I colour or style my wig?
Because our wigs are made from human hair, they can usually be heat styled just like natural hair.
We recommend using heat protection and keeping styling temperatures as low as practical to help maintain the hair's condition.
If you're considering changing the colour, we'd always recommend consulting an experienced hair professional.
How long should a human hair wig last?
With proper care, a high-quality human hair wig can last years. Each wig's lifespan depends on how frequently it's worn, how it's cared for and how often it's heat styled.
We'll be publishing a detailed Wig Care Guide to help you get the very best from your wig for as long as possible.
How do I choose the right cap size?
Choosing the correct cap size is just as important as choosing the right colour.
Check The Journal for a simple measuring guide to help you find your perfect fit.
If you're unsure, please get in touch and we'll be happy to help.
Do you use real photographs?
Our wig listings will always use real, unedited photographs.
One of the reasons I started Your Hair Edit was because too many wigs looked completely different to their online photos when they arrived.
Wherever possible, you'll see genuine photographs and videos taken outside in natural light, giving you the clearest possible idea of colour, movement and density before you buy.
Will colours ever vary?
Maybe, slightly.
Human hair is a natural product and colours can appear different depending on natural light, indoor lighting and your screen settings.
We work hard to photograph every wig as accurately as possible and we'll always describe colours honestly.
Can I return my wig?
Your satisfaction is vital to us. We work hard to design and produce beautiful, natural looking wigs. We employ an independent quality officer to liaise with our manufacturing team and personally check every unit before it's shipped. And we present each wig with openness and honesty. No filters, no fibs, no promises we can't keep.
Our full Returns Policy can be found here, but please note that, for hygiene reasons, wigs that have been washed, worn or altered in any way may not be eligible for return unless faulty.
Can I contact you before ordering?
Absolutely.
Choosing a wig is personal, and we're always happy to answer questions about colour, cap size, construction or anything else before you place an order.
