Our Story
This was never the plan.
Over the last seven years I’ve bought more wigs than I’d care to admit. Some were inexpensive, some were marketed as luxury. All of them promised beautiful, natural hair but often arrived looking nothing like the photographs. Colours were inaccurate, density was unrealistic, the hair was poor quality or the cap was far too big.
Like so many people, I found myself wondering where I could actually buy a wig with confidence. Then came the final straw.
I bought what looked like a beautiful small cap human hair wig through Vinted. The photographs were convincing and the description sounded genuine. Instead, it turned out to be a scam.
It wasn’t just about losing the money. It was the realisation that buying a wig online had become a gamble. Beautiful photographs were everywhere but honesty and value for money were much harder to find.
I’d decided to get out of the house, to try and clear my head a little.
A friend, her two daughters and I drove to a beach on Anglesey with my two French Bulldogs. It was one of those crystal clear coastal days where the air seems to make everything feel a little calmer.
The girls spent the afternoon running across the sand, their hair glinting in the sunlight as they chased around with the dogs. I found myself taking photograph after photograph.
Standing on that beach, finally feeling more relaxed, everything I’d been thinking about suddenly came together. I’d been trying to solve the wrong problem.
The problem wasn’t just finding a wig seller I could rely on. It was finding a way to make buying online feel calmer. Less overwhelming.
I wanted fewer choices but better choices.
I wanted photographs that reflected reality.
I wanted colours that looked the way they actually looked.
I wanted descriptions that helped rather than persuaded.
A business built on honesty instead of hype.
Because buying a wig isn’t like buying a jumper. For many people it’s deeply personal. Wigs can represent confidence after hair loss. Comfort during chemotherapy. A fresh start after illness and the chance for someone to feel like themselves again. That deserves kindness not endless disappointment.
By the time we drove home from Anglesey, I wasn’t thinking about the seller who scammed me anymore. I was thinking about the kind of wigs I’d want to source and sell. Wigs I’d genuinely be excited to receive myself. I was thinking about what Your Hair Edit could become. I wouldn’t be the biggest wig retailer, but I’d be someone people could trust.
That’s why there isn’t an endless catalogue. Instead I’ll be concentrating on collections that are carefully curated rather than packed with hundreds of nearly identical styles.
It’s why you’ll only see real photography, and why I’ll always be honest about colour variation, density and cap construction.
I hope shopping here feels different.
My listings won’t rely on exaggerated claims or unrealistic photographs. They’ll simply be calm, honest and reassuring. Because buying a wig shouldn’t begin with uncertainty, and it should end with confidence.
Welcome to Your Hair Edit. I’m so glad you’re here.
